YOUTH AMBASSADOR

The Scars Youth Ambassador Program elevates and celebrates the diverse voices of youth, ranging in ages from 9 to 17 years old, by providing support for a national network of passionate and dedicated youth volunteers. The Scars Foundation Youth Ambassadors actively advocate for essential youth resources and engage in various activities throughout the year. They work to build a strong sense of community among one another, spread awareness of the important mission of The Scars Foundation, offer a welcoming and safe space where individuals can share their unique Scars stories, and raise awareness about the extensive resources that The Scars Foundation has carefully compiled for those in need.

Scars Foundation encourages youth ambassadors to log their volunteerism towards community service hours.

SHARE STORIES

By sharing your own personal stories and mental health challenges, you will help inspire others to share theirs. This will not only start the process of your own healing journey, but also contribute to the healing process of others who may be going through similar experiences. Engaging in this shared narrative is where we start to create communities.

Create community

By creating a strong and welcoming community, you also effectively build a solid and reliable support system. This is a key and crucial step in assuring others that they are not alone in their thoughts, feelings, and struggles. A supportive community will lead to individuals feeling empowered and understood. Additionally, it provides them with a safe and nurturing space to express themselves openly, and seek help when needed. It may also deeply inspire being an advocate for mental help.

Advocate

Advocate effectively by using your voice to publicly support the rights, needs, and mental wellness of yourself and others who are struggling. Volunteering your time, joining or organizing movements (such as anti-bullying campaigns), and engaging local officials to highlight the importance of mental health are practical ways to champion those who may not be able to speak for themselves.

RAISE AWARENESS

The powerful impact that our youth can have on the mental health community by raising awareness is truly incredible and far-reaching. Their willingness to openly discuss topics that are often difficult and heavily stigmatized plays a crucial role in encouraging conversations and deepening understanding about mental health. This openness will not only inspire their peers to seek help and support one another, but also encourage adults to find the courage to use their voices, share their own experiences, and visibly show their scars.

SHOW YOUR SCARS

We invite all youth ambassadors to show their scars and were them loudly and proudly. Our physical and mental scars represent both our strength and resilience. Every single one of us have personal scars which make us individually unique. Our personal stories and experiences are nothing to be ashamed of. Being able to share these stories is what connects us all.
